Board unanimously schedules public hearings on truck weight limits

NY SPARTA — Sparta Town Board schedules twin public hearings for February. The Sparta Town Board unanimously authorized two public hearings on February 10, 2026, to consider Local Law #2 of 2026 restricting truck traffic on nine steeply graded roads and Local Law 1-2026 establishing highway defect notification procedures, per recommendations from the town's insurance company, New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal. Supervisor Mark Schuster led the unanimous 5-0 votes.
The board approved the 2026 Agreement to Spend Highway Funds and audited 2025 fiscal books with no findings, processing 8,104.15 dollars in general bills, 17,229.56 dollars in highway bills, and 527.29 dollars in street lighting costs.
